While we were chilling out and relaxing in Canberra, we did a few things together as a family.
Amazing, right? We do that sometimes. When we aren't busy watching T.V. and staring at iPads, that is.
Our kids decided that they would love, love, LOVE to go to the zoo, because apparently it's been forever since we took them to the zoo.
I think it's written somewhere in the parenting handbook, that children must be taken to the zoo MINIMUM once a year, otherwise they will explode.
TRUE!
Before we hit the zoo, I had a little untangling to do:
I have a little untangling to do every morning.
I don't know what this girl does during the night to make
such a disaster, but every morning there it IS.
It's great fun, let me tell you.
"Ouch! Ouch, mommy! Ouch, ouch OUCH!!!"
Then we had to have breakfast. It was cold (by Australian standards) so we
had some hot chocolate. The kids loved it (okay, me too), as the chocolate was
wedged onto the spoon like this, and you had to stir it all in to the hot milk.
Fun and delicious!
Don't they look like they're having a blast?
I think it's time to get them training for some synchronised stirring competitions… they are naturals!
My husband lecturing me:
"Bacon is ALWAYS an option for an add on."
You had to be there I guess.
Someone should lecture him about eating all his mushrooms!
Finally at the zoo.
When we got there, they gave us a map. As they usually do at family attractions, but this
time Conner noticed. And he loved that thing. It was never out of his hands, and he was more
concerned with getting us where we needed to go than actually seeing the animals.
Normally I wouldn't bother including such a blurry/hard to see photo, but
this is a snow leopard, and my sweetheart Jarom LOVES snow leopards.
Bet you didn't know THAT.
Checking out the lions. If you can't see them very well, don't worry...
We've got Lena to help you out with that.
Reid, contemplating life. And giraffes.
People looking at penguins.
Or penguins looking at people.
Take your pick!
They sounded like squeaky toys, it was super cute/funny (The penguins, not the people)
And lucky you, I took some video… so you can hear them. And of a few more things.
Listen out for my husband calling out "Hey Buddy!" to the giraffe. Apparently he felt
an instant bond to the animal. (His words not mine!)
