Campy

We went camping last week, and I took fifty trillion pictures.

Fortunately for you, I'm only going to share forty trillion of those on this post.

You've got things to do, after all!

Probably.

First up! The homestead. Isn't it so nice and green and dirty?
In other news, Conner looks perfectly normal when he's running.

Next up! Conner and Lena have to discover ways to entertain themselves
now that they have no iPads or T.V. sets in sight.
They found a big stick and wandered around.

Exciting times…

Conner and I hid a few toy cars in his bag, so he and Lena were able to have fun with
something other than sticks if they chose.
They chose to combine the cars with the sticks.

EXTRA exciting times.

The older, and much wiser children sat by a dead fire and communicated with each other.
You can't see Reid's face in this picture, but I can tell he is very interested and
fascinated by this conversation.

Told ya!

One of the sweetest (literally) parts of camp:
Hot chocolate in the morning. Around the campy fire.
Lena looks like she was born to sip on chocolate and have some cozy chit chat.

Jarom made friends with a Kookaburra. We named him slow-mo. Because he flew really
slow-mo. At least, he did when we took some slow-mo video of him.

I'm really enjoying Reid's frisbee technique here. Not sure it's helping his game though.
Conner isn't sure what to think. Catching a frisbee? Or getting ready to charge me???

This was Conner the second we got to camp:
"I'm so excited to go for a hike!"
"Who else is so excited to go for a hike???"
"I can't wait for our hike!"
"Who else can't wait for our hike???"
Times a thousand.

It was way cute. His older brothers especially thought so.

Speaking of cute! Those tushies…

Some options for Wes' head here:
1. He was avoiding a pokey branch
2. He was leaning in to hear something his daughter said
3. His big ol' brain finally made his head too heavy for his neck
4. He just be crazy

Conner. A big stick. A water bottle. A deserted termite hill.
Glad I could clear that up for you.

The boys decided that the path was getting a bit too easy, so they climbed
this rocky hill.

This may be a horribly blurry shot, but I can still make out that
two of the four are feeling pretty proud of themselves.
Wes could be proud, but all that beard is muffling it. Conner's too busy
planning his escape route.

Girls laze in the tent. Boys laze by the fire.
Sounds about right.

Camping can sure wear a little sleeping beauty out!!

Reid and Jarom were responsible for collecting and chopping up branches.
At one point they went crazy, and named one of those branches TREE.
Good name, very original.

Then they hacked it up to bits.
Ummm… not disturbing at all, boys.

Jarom spent most of camp burning the end of a stick and wafting the smoke around.
He then declared he was an "expert smoker." Then he realized how that sounded, and we
laughed at him. Reid sure looks nice and jolly when he laughs.

It's not the greatest picture in the world. Too much light, and my daughter has a mouth full
of Hershey's… but I have to include it, because we need to remember it took us two days
to play one game of phase ten.

Inside jokes... therefore, this will mean nothing to anybody but us.
???

Lena got bored enough with the card games, that she decided to build us a fire.
She's very impressive.

This picture is not actually about my oldest and the unusual things
he does for a photo.
It's about Mrs. Goanna

Whenever I see a goanna, I can't help but think:
"Those are MY eggs!!!"

So much dirt… so little time.

The end.

Sort of.

I have a nice long video of a whole lot of random bits of camp. Watch, if you dare.

But before you do…

At the end of this video is a clip of me asking my family what their favourite part of camp was. Right when I asks Jarom what his was, Conner (who was sitting beside me) interrupts, and starts talking about HIS favourite part, and so, you can't hear Jarom.

Boo hoo, I know.

(Jarom said he liked feeding the Kookaburras)

THEN my husband asks me what my favourite part was, and as I was answering, HE interrupts and starts telling me my favourite part of camp.

So, at least we know where Conner gets it from.
