a couple of conversations

Like the heading says, here are a couple of conversations that I felt the need to save for future reference.

FIRST!

My daughter and I ended up playing Barbies one afternoon... and how exactly she roped me into it, I don't know, but I'm glad she did, because I was able to participate in this little gem of a conversation:

Moi: "So... what's your Barbie's name?" (Because although technically it's Barbie, we all know that you don't actual refer to your Barbie as Barbie... it's unwritten little girl law)

Lena: "Her name is Julie." (I suspect that this name may or may not have been influenced by the fact that she knows an actual real life Julie who is also pretty and blonde)

Lena cont... "My imagination didn't want me to call her Julie, but I did it anyway."

Me: "What??? Are you telling me you disobeyed your imagination...?"

Lena: "Yep."

Me: "Wow.... so what DID your imagination want you to call her?"

Lena: "Lou Lou."

Me (takes a moment to smile and/or laugh to myself): "You're cute."

Lena: "I know." (And so humble too)

NEXT!

I homeschool my kids. I have brought this up before, I'm sure. Every morning our school day has to start with scripture study. Yes, we are absolute angels like that. One particular day doing our scripture work, we were discussing a scripture that talks about baptism, and the covenants we make, and so on and so forth. Conner and Lena check out of the conversation as per usual and start drawing pictures. My older kids I make endure my preaching a little longer... and I remind them, "REMEMBER when you got baptized you promised to obey all the commandments!" To which I get this reply from Jarom:

"Yeah." Brief pause. "Well... so far... so good."

The confidence.

It was a cute moment.

Kids are great... little moments like these make me glad I had fifty of them. Kids, not moments. Although I'm sure there has been at least fifty moments  :)

What??? A picture-less post? Say it ain't so!

It's so.
