You may be surprised to know this, but my husband has quite the reputation for making gingerbread. He was quite surprised to find this out too, but once he heard the rumour, he wanted nothing more in the whole wide world than to live up to the talk. Where it all started, and who started it all, we'll never really know, but that my friends, no longer matters, because Wes is now the gingerbread making champion of the world.
You may now from this point on in your lives, refer to him as Master G.
Since his gingerbread making skills are really only beneficial during the Christmas season, we had no choice but to make ourselves some gingerbread houses. And because all good talents must be shared, we of course invited along our good friends the Finches.
The first thing you are going to want to do before you start building,
is to be taste testing all that candy.
She looks as though she may be gasping in surprise, but really... it's
just a sneak tactic to get another candy in her mouth.
It's a serious business. You may have thought it was a fun business, considering all the candy
involved, but you'd be sadly mistaken.
Like I said... serious business!
Eventually Lena gave up her candy snatching, grabbed her
shadow, and got hard to work.
Finger lickin' good! Also, arm and/or wrist lickin' good.
And hey look! A smile! Jarom... you rebel.
If you're curious to know (and I know you are), responsibilities and duties of the evening went
as follows:
Wes - construction manager, technical support, cheer squad, and overall boss.
Julie and I - photographers, and sticky finger patrol.
Little Jack - pick up and eat any and all stray candies that fall onto the floor.
Everyone else? - the builders of course. The hired help. We paid them in candy.
And the results are in! A lot of gingerbread houses by our talented construction workers.
Can you guess which house suffered a huff and a puff from the big bad wolf?
Conner, Lena, Reid, and Jarom.
In other Christmas related news, we went ahead and set up our tree this year.
Strange, but true...
This is what setting up the tree looks like in our house.
As you can imagine, the kids throughly enjoy it.
Merry Christmas!
