offspring #1

Okay, it's time to put the nasty nose post behind us, and move forward, having learned an important lesson. Don't let your kids get sick. Easy peasy.

Since I have nothing going on to share, I thought it would be great fun to let you get to know my perfectly gorgeous little family. Well... my perfectly gorgeous little kids. You should already know my husband and I well enough, we haven't changed much in the past few years. But for all our family out there who hasn't seen their grandkids, nephews, niece, whatever, for the past three years, this might be super duper great stuff. So here we go... first things first.
The first child...

What's his name? Reid, aka: the Encyclopedia. What's his nickname? Reidster... of course. He was four when we left... now he's fast approaching eight... yikes! That would make me older than I like to admit. When we left he was the dinosaur loving, guess-what-animal-I'm-acting-out kind of kid. Well, the dinosaurs are gathering dust (boo hoo) and he'd rather play the Nintendo than play pretend... are you SO sad now?

It is possible this child has the world's greatest memory. If we ever have trouble remembering something that happened, a certain event, whatever...the first person we go to is Reid... and he always remembers... in perfect detail, every single thing, the day, the time, what he was wearing... haha.

He's smarter than his parents, and we break into a sweat every time he corners us to ask us questions, because seriously, we are just regular old human beings, and how can we know the answer to everything???

Thankfully there are books, and when he's done questioning us unsuccessfully, he'll happily run off and absorb the words in any book he can get his hands on. And of course his perfect memory stores it all away so he can teach us about it later. One of his favourites... off to the right there.

He is a great helper in our house, if you ask him to do anything, he just gets right to it... he's a very caring, thoughtful, meticulous person, and even though he has a recluse for a mother he managed to turn out to be more outgoing like his father, and has a lot of great friends at school... he gets super excited to try anything new, he LOVES going out places with his family, and gets so extremely BORED if we just hang out at home.
Thanks to his bestest bud (uhh... mate, I mean) at school he has developed a love for "footy"... no, it's not football like you're thinking. Don't ask me to explain it... I may have a house full of boys, but I'm still too much of a girl to care about sports.
The team he "goes" for... the bulldogs... here's his well worn out ball. Well, worn out mainly because it's been out in the hot Australian sun, and not so much from playing, because his little brothers don't get the game, his father lives at school, and his mother is scared of it... so poor Reid... no one to play with him. He has managed to sneak it off to school a few times though, to play with his friends. He loves swimming most of all I think, and has a great time in his swimming class... and of course in my opinion is the best in his class...
Although he has changed quite a lot since he was four (could you expect anything else?) he actually still has a love for "the guessing game"... for those of you who didn't get to see him play it before... he will simply act out an animal for everyone to guess. Now he's got his brothers in on it too. We played it for family home evening the other night, and after guessing and guessing and guessing, we gave up trying to figure out what Reid was. He then tells us he's a Lace Monitor... like, what else could it have been??? Of course, a Lace Monitor, how could we have been so blind??? (In case you're wondering... it's a lizard, or something). Ahh... yeah... Uncle David, you need to come to Australia and collect your Mini Me.
Okay, that's going to have to be it, I think I've gone on long enough. I could probably go on forever and a day when it comes to my kids... what can I say... they sure are great.
And because Reid also loves to read this blog... WE LOVE YOU REID!
