just joking!

My kids, like most kids, love a good joke. They are forever coming to me with the latest funny they've picked up from friends, books, and the good old T.V.

It's amazing to me how many of these jokes are the exact same jokes I was telling when I was a kid.

My daughter, who is forever trying to keep up with her beloved older brothers, wants to share jokes with me too. She, however, doesn't actually know any jokes, so she usually just makes up her own. Being four years old, her made up jokes are weird, silly, and don't make any sense whatsoever. But I smile anyway, like a good mother should, and laugh like it's the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life.

This morning though, she, with the help of her brother Conner, provided me with an actual real life reason to laugh.

Lena walks up to me and starts her joke...

"Mommy... who lives with a dog?"

Me: "Who?"

Lena: "A cup!"

"Hardy har har," I laugh. (No, really... I laugh like that)

Conner, who has been listening in on the whole thing, suddenly lights up and says in all seriousness:

"What if we WERE all cups??? Then the joke would be TRUE!!!"

Gotta love how his brain works.

And since I'm not a huge fan of a picture-less post...
