a birthday for J

A little person in our house by the name of Jarom turned the great big number of SEVEN yesterday, so what choice did we have but to celebrate and eat cake and have some fun.

First of all, to enjoy a birthday, you must skip school. So we did. Which is really very easy to do when you homeschool...

Then you head off to a "secret" place, not telling your kids what that secret place is, so they question you the entire drive about where you are going, and what type of place is it, and please won't you just tell us what the secret place is MOMMY, PLEASE??!!

Sorry no pictures of the secret place, which was Lollipops (one of those playland places, for those who don't have a clue what Lollipops is). But they had fun of course, running around like crazy people, and I had a great time making sure no one got lost, stolen, or broken. Or touched anything gross looking.

Those playlands leave me with very mixed feelings.

Then out to eat for supper and the usual cake and presents. Fortunately, we got some pictures of that.

Here he is, looking all seven years old.

It's hard to tell who's more excited about this present... but I'm gonna have to go with Reid.

If I have failed to mention this in the past, my boys are totally and completely obssessed with Lego and Star Wars. So we thought a giant Lego brick would be a cool birthday cake. Unfortunately, the boys had no clue what the cake was when they saw it.
Jarom: "Is it a castle?"
Reid: "Is it a dead bug on it's back?"
Jarom: "Is it some frogs on some grass?"
Reid: "Is it a castle?"
(Uhh... been there already Reid.)

Since this is a post all about Jarom, I thought you might like to hear a cute Jarom story. While at a ward activity, Jarom got a hold of one of those little toothpick umbrella things (see photo ABOVE, if your clueless), and Wes (being typical Wes), says to Jarom, "I don't think that's going to keep you very dry if it rains." To which Jarom replied, "I know! Because it's made out of paper."

Ummm, yes Jarom... that's the reason why...

Okay, some video to enjoy...
