The day Conner turned six.
A birthday for Conner is an exciting deal, because Conner is an excitable kid... there is nothing more entertaining than watching this kid celebrate his birthday. He decided that what he would really love to do more than anything in this world for his sixth birthday was go bowling. And eat at "Outback."
So can you guess what we did? We went bowling. And had supper at Outback.
We are pretty good at giving in to whatever our kids want.
And here's the proof...
Don't they look so thrilled to be bowling??? Jarom, as usual, looks particularly ecstatic.
Just look at that form! He is such a pro at rolling the ball down the cheat kiddy ramp.
Just look at that form!
Hey, would you like a little side story here? (Of course you would)
Well, if you look closely at Lena in this picture, she has a small bandaid on her right hand. The reason
for the bandaid? She came up to me in the morning, showed me a small scratch on her hand,
and informed me that:
"A baby ant took a tiny little knife and cut my hand!"
And that is pretty much what life is like with a little girl. Drama.
Moving on....
Just look at that form!
Just look at that form!
They inherit their amazing form from their father. Hopefully they don't pick up on his cheating
skills though. I'm pretty sure in bowling land it's not legal to let your ball hit the lane BEFORE the line!
For SHAME!!!
When we got to the bowling alley, we were delighted (?) to discover they had installed this race track
thingy... and so what choice did we have but to let our kids play? It sure seemed like it would be some
good old innocent fun, but let me tell you, it was NOT! They look calm enough in this picture, but it
was anything but. I had no clue that my kids had such a competitive streak in them.
There was screaming, crying, foot stomping, crying, shouting, and crying! It was traumatizing.
Amazingly enough... a few days later, I hear the kids talking amongst themselves:
"Remember racing cars for Conner's birthday? That was so fun! I hope we get to do it again!!!"
What?!
Chowin' down on some ribs at Outback.
Before....
And after!
The birthday kid and his cake. He settled for a shark this year, because
his parents couldn't bear the thought of having to come up with another
car themed cake!
After we had sung happy birthday and Conner had blown out the candles, I think the
day of excitement finally grew to be too much for him, and he could not hold in his joy, his jubalence
and his madness, and he let loose with a mighty roar. It was hilarious and kinda scary all at once.
Off to his right there is his future wife, Lucy. (Seriously... they talk about it on a regular basis,
and have even had a few wedding rehearsals) I think in this moment
though she was seriously reconsidering her marriage plans to this guy.
And of course, I couldn't let you go without some birthday video!!! Especially considering this
is Conner we're talking about, and his excitement is better viewed live, rather than looked at in photos.
THE END!
