Today is Canada Day. Most of you know that, because you actually live in Canada. But we tend to forget that fact, what with being out here in Australia... they don't care much for Canada Day here. Can't say I blame them.
Anyway... perhaps somewhere deep in the subconscious of my oldest child, he knew what day it was. His pure, thick, maple syrup coated blood must have stirred within him, because he seemed to have Canada on the brain.
For example, out of the blue he came up to me and said:
"Do you remember in Canada, we would get those round ball things, that were like donuts?"
I of course, know immediately what he is talking about, and respond, "Timbits."
Reid: "Yeah, I really liked those. Can you get those here?"
Me: "No." (And then I think secretly to myself, "and even if you could, they would NOT be the same." Sorry... but it's true.)
Reid: "Oh... that's why I want to go back to Canada."
Hmmm.... my apologies to his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. And my apologies to the beauty and magnificence of my beloved Canada... it would seem you've been outdone by a sugary ball of dough.
(Happy Canada Day.)
