some hiding and some seeking

I have a house full of hide and seekers... strange, I know. Who would have thought that four little children would love to play hide and seek?

They are all so unique and amusing in the way they play, and so... I decided to document it, this ever important phase of our life...

And I'm feeling pretty sure that you are dying to know their little hide and seek habits... am I right, or am I right???

Monkey man Conner...

He can't count properly, but that doesn't deter him in the least. He'll count on his own, and totally peek at where everyone hides, but then in the end can't find them despite his cheating. I love to listen to him count the most.

It goes a little something like this...

"1... 2... 3... 4...5,6,7... 8, 10... 6... 12... 16, 17, 11-teen, 1...2...3," (at this point, I usually call out, 'that's good enough Conner!') and then instead of shouting, "ready or not, here I come!" he belts out, "here we're come, here we're not!!!"

Of course it doesn't make sense, that's what makes it so amusing. He'll get it right one day. Unfortunately.

Something else so cute about Conner... whatever spot Reid hides in, is exactly where Conner will hide in the next round. Guaranteed.

My sweetie Jarom...

Always forgets when to stop counting when he's the seeker, and he usually makes it 10 or 20 numbers past before I have to shout out to him to stop.

When it's his turn to hide, he gets in such a panic when someone starts counting, that his mind can't decide quickly enough on a place to hide, and so he runs around crazily, practically hyperventilating, until he hears the call of, "ready or not here I come!" and then he throws himself in the nearest location... usually a very obvious place. Poor kid.

He's a good sport about it though.

My smarty pants Reid...

He prefers to be a "hider," not a "seeker."

As soon as the words, "do you want to play hide and seek?" come out of anyone's mouth, Reid has planned out fifty amazing places to hide. And he will stay there, deathly silent, not moving a muscle... I'm not even sure if he dares to breathe.

He is the hide and seek pro around here.

And my adorable little Lena...

She is SO in love with hide and seek, and she is so entertaining to watch. When you tell her to hide, she'll just squat down wherever, even if it is in plain sight, and then cover her eyes. And I suppose in her mind that means you can't see her.

My goodness, it is ADORABLE!

Whoa! Where'd she go???

Jarom: "I found you Lena!"
Lena: "What the??? How on earth did you find me here???"

Once she has become bored of hiding, she then takes on the role of "the rat"... meaning she watches where Reid hides, and then when Jarom or Conner come looking for him, she stands and points at where he is.

The stinker.

Lena: "he's back here you guys."

"told ya so."

Lena: "I totally saw Reid go in here, Jarom."

And again... Lena: "he's hidden himself in here, I swear!"

Reid is none too impressed with his little sister at this point. All his well thought out hiding places, totally wasted! Oh, the betrayal!!!

And there you have it... the all too exciting adventures of hide and seek, Prepchuk style.
Thanks for stopping by.
