We waited patiently to do our gingerbread houses until the grandparents arrived, because well... then they could do all the work, and Wes and I could sit around and just eat chocolate and candy.
Okay, okay... just kidding. We drank some milk too.
And of course, here are some pictures for you.
Mmmm... icing made with raw eggs.
Soooo good. So
nutritious.

Oh, gingerbread house making is such a frustrating business. Candies not sticking where they are supposed to... and grandpas sneaking and eating the pieces you have already stuck on. What's a little boy to do???

Is it just me, or does that house seem like it's
staring at you?

Either we took this picture right in the middle of a blink, or she just thinks that candy cane tastes really really
really good.

This is a picture with the grandparents. Cool, hey?

The gingerbread houses and the kids. They are sitting in front of the house that belongs to them. Except for Lena. She didn't make that house on the end. Grandpa did. I think he may have let Grandma help a little, but I could be mistaken. If you feel the need to leave a comment on this post, Grandpa would really appreciate it if you let him know that you like his the best, and that he won.

Just a little close up there for you. You may be wondering what have we got perched on the ledge there behind the gingerbread... and luckily, I'm going to tell you. That is a nativity scene. It used to sit on this white table. But once these gingerbread houses came into existence... well, what choice did we have but to shove the nativity onto some precarious ledge, and put our candy homes there instead? I mean, come on people! Let's remember what Christmas is all about! (Candy and presents, right???)
