Okay, you "pat a cake" experts may have realized that there is a big chunk of the rhyme missing there, but I have a perfectly good reason. No matter how many times we sing it, Lena keeps jumping the gun and throwing that cake in the oven as soon as she's done patting and rolling it. I guess she just sees no need for marking it... and really... should we blame her? Who wants to waste time marking the cake? The faster we get it in the oven, the faster we can eat it!
So, since she's just a baby, and my favourite daughter, we play it her way.
