the scoop

I thought maybe I'd forget about posting a few pictures, and bore you with a lot of talking instead. Anyone interested in knowing what's going on in the Prepchuk home? I thought so! We are so fascinating after all, how could you not??? So here we go... fasten your seat belts, this is going to be one exciting ride...

First of all, summer break is officially over, and so Reid and Jarom are back to school in a couple days... Jarom is starting Kindergarten, and because he doesn't know any better, he is excited to go to school. Reid is starting grade three... or year three, depending on whether you're Canadian or Australian... and because he does know better, he's not really that excited. I am not excited at all, because I'm overly protective, paranoid, and controlling, and I like to have my kids at home where I know they are safe and properly taken care of. So, in a couple of days, I will begin the difficult and painful task of developing a few ulcers.

Conner had a great new year's resolution of learning to use the toilet like a real human being, and he shocked us all by mastering it in one week... who knew the trouble child in this house could be so un-troublesome in such a troublesome area! What can I say... he's a whiz! (pun totally intended) Now that he has that new year's resolution taken care of, he can get on with the rest of his list, which apparently includes getting lost in a shopping mall, biting his brother, dropping toys on his sister, pulling every single book off the bookshelf, torturing the neighbours cat, screaming as loud as humanly possible, and causing havoc whenever he can.

Lena is busying herself with getting fat and being cute, and has decided she doesn't like to sleep in her bed anymore, she'd much rather sleep in her parents bed... I can't figure out why, her father snores so loud, martians complain, and he talks in his sleep and uses words like unrealistic and unreasonable when he does so. She's sticking with it however, and we let her because she's the fourth child and we've forgotten how to discipline at this point.

And one more glimpse into our super fun life...

Wes begins his fourth and final year of dentistry... in one year from now, he'll go from being a poor and starving student, to a poor and starving dentist. We were also expecting that a year from now, we'd be on our way back to Canada... but sadly, (for those who haven't heard) that's not going to be happening anymore. It's not just a maybe, it is a definite thing... hard to hear, I know... so, I'll give you a moment... if you need to, go ahead and cry, don't be afraid, pull out those hankies... Kevyn, grab a mirror (oh, how could I???) It's true, unfortunately. It would require about 100,000 dollars, and a couple more years of poverty in order for us to come back. That's it in a nut shell. A very small nut shell, of course there's more to it than that, but I don't want to bore those of you who don't care. I suppose we could whip out the ol' ski masks and pull a bank job, but we just aren't as young as we used to be. So, we won't be making it back anytime soon. It's a sad turn of events, but it would seem someone wants us to stay in Australia... and that someone is Stephen Harper.

And on that happy note...

I'm outta here.
